Holiday Hair and Makeup 2018

December 20, 2018

Hands down, the Christmas season is my favorite time of the year. Most people feel that way and it’s no surprise. The air seems filled with music and joy around this time of year. Family comes to visit. Oh, and the parties and get-togethers – can I get a “yas”? Make this season’s party circuit your personal runway. Check out our tips for amazing holiday hair and makeup!

Chignon Bun

A classic chignon is a great option for holiday hair. This style is so simple that the options for accessories are endless. For an adorable take, pin the chignon with a sparkly bow. If that’s not enough Christmas for you, use tiny gift bows to encircle the bun. Even a small sprig of pine stuck in the chignon adds some holiday romance to your look. If you don’t want to go full-blown whimsical with this look, a sophisticated snowflake barrette is just the right detail to tie it together.

With the Glamour Chignon by hairdo, doing your hair is a breeze. The beauty of human hair extensions is just how low maintenance they are. This piece snaps to your ponytail with a clip-in comb. That’s it!

A chignon, by default, puts the focus on the face and makeup. Be sure you make an impression this holiday season. This season’s hottest palette involves cool metallic colors. Coordinate your makeup with your accessories. If you went fun with any type of bow, pick a muted frosty color for your eye shadow. If you went tame with a bejeweled clip, go all out on your eyes. Why not try a silver glittery cat eye?

The High Pony

Who said ponytails aren’t dressy? They absolutely can be! Few of us have the Instagram-worthy volume required for a knockout ponytail, but with clip in extensions, we don’t have to. Wine by Ellen Wille creates the bouncy high ponytail that dreams are made of.

Clip it in and wrap the additional hair strand around the base of your ponytail for instant volume and curl. It’s easy to take your ponytail to the next level. The easiest option is to release and curl the tendrils of hair that frame your face. For a romantic look, add a braid crown that melts into your pony. If braiding isn’t your thing, you can try a bubble or segmented ponytail.  All these looks are fantastic on their own, but cute accessories like bows and barrettes add more fun.

With a high and accessorized ponytail, you’ll want to keep the attention on it. If you need makeup for a Christmas party, stick to a simple smoky eye with a dark matte palette.

Be sure to play up your eyelashes with some volumizing mascara or false eyelashes. Pair your smoky eye with a bold red lip that’s perfect for meeting under the mistletoe.  Holly jolly, indeed.

Cascading Christmas Curls

Sometimes, you need to just let your hair down. Maybe ponytails and buns aren’t your style.  In that case, you will fall head over heels in love with the volume this 16” Clip In by Christine Brinkley provides. Clip in extensions are the easiest way to add volume to your hair – no messy mousses or annoying teasing needed. With a curling iron, give your own hair a slight wave to match the extension. Pull up your upper layers of hair so you can clip in the piece closer to the nape the neck.

This method allows for the best blending in. When clipped in, this human hair extension is indistinguishable from your own hair. This look is beautiful on its own, but if you want to add some character to your style, add a Thick Braid Headband also by Christine Brinkley.

This hairstyle works great with just about any makeup. We recommend a statement eye over a statement lip.

I love a fierce glittery copper eye shadow or a cool blue smoky eye. If you’d rather go the statement lip route, try out a moody cranberry shade of lipstick with a neutral eye shadow.
